Make the complex
feel considered.

I turn dense stories, growing systems, and high-stakes information into precise brand experiences—then build the rules, reviews, and production habits that keep the craft intact.

What staff-level craft means to me

Raise the ceiling on the work.
Raise the floor of the system.

The strongest brand work is not only beautiful in the moment. It creates language, frameworks, and confidence that help the next piece get better, faster.

Selected work

Clarity is a competitive advantage.

Three systems that demonstrate the same core discipline: finding the essential story, building a distinct visual point of view, and making it repeatable without making it generic.

01

Financial communications · Editorial · Information design

Amerigo Resources

Financial information, made legible.

A cohesive investor-communications system that turns dense operating data into a confident, readable story across reports, presentations, and digital touchpoints.

Key decisionLead with the story, not the spreadsheet.
Behind the thinking

I structure source material before styling it: find the narrative, verify the data, and establish an editorial rhythm that lets readers move from context to evidence without friction. Charts, tables, callouts, and typography work as one hierarchy rather than competing layers.

02

Brand stewardship · Campaign systems · Sales enablement

Miller Mendel / eSOPH

One system. Every customer touchpoint.

An evolving brand ecosystem for a cloud background-investigation platform serving public-safety agencies—from sales education and digital campaigns to trade-show environments.

Key decisionExtend the brand without diluting its signal.
Behind the thinking

Since 2021, I have translated eSOPH’s established identity into a growing library of campaign, event, social, and sales assets. Reusable structures keep the work recognizable and production-efficient while leaving room for each message to find the right visual emphasis.

Art direction · Editorial systems · Production craft

Excelta

Precision rebuilt from the details outward.

A modular communications system for a precision-tool manufacturer, designed to make technical information easier to navigate while protecting the accuracy of every specification.

Key decisionAccuracy is a visual-design problem, too.
Behind the thinking

The work began with content correction and source verification, then expanded into flexible layouts, co-brand variants, and production-ready files. The result balances technical density with visual calm—and gives internal teams a repeatable foundation for future materials.

Range, with a point of view

Different audiences. The same exacting eye.

Brand stewardship means knowing when the system should whisper, when it should flex, and when a familiar format needs a new visual idea.

How I raise the bar

The work is the standard.
The system makes it repeatable.

01

Start with a point of view

Strategy becomes tangible through choices: hierarchy, crop, pace, negative space, and the details we deliberately leave out.

02

Build useful frameworks

I document the logic behind the look so other designers can extend it confidently across channels, formats, and moments.

03

Review the work, not the person

Clear critique makes teams braver. I explain what is working, what is not, and which precise move will sharpen the idea.

04

Use AI with judgment

I use new tools to widen exploration and remove repetition—while keeping authorship, source accuracy, and brand integrity human.

“He understands our style and direction and it shows every time we need to add a new asset or refresh an old one.”

About Ian

A practical designer with editorial instincts.

I make straightforward, approachable design that still feels unmistakably like the brand it belongs to.

Over two decades, I have moved between brand identities, financial communications, information design, campaigns, digital products, packaging, publications, trade shows, motion, and photography. That range taught me to zoom out without losing the pixel—and to see reliability as part of the craft.
